FAQ

All about working at gcx

  • How do we communicate internally?

We work and communicate a lot via Slack. Here you can find, besides informative channels, groups like: Dogs or Cats, flachwitzfreitag, Memes or Gaming. Be prepared for an open and emoji- and GIF-rich exchange. Since we have many international colleagues, we communicate with each other in German or English, depending on the situation. This way we want to make sure that everyone can speak in their preferred language and feel comfortable.
In addition, we are on a first-name basis (Duz-Kultur) among all employees.
Everyone always stays well informed via regular formats, including the "State of the Union" (on-site or streamed). Here, management and employees give an update on the development of the company, our projects and products.

  • What are the working hours like and how do you handle overtime?

A full-time position for us is 40 hours per week. However, we are flexible with part-time arrangements for most positions. Of course, you should make sure that you don't miss any important meetings - but basically you can start and finish when it suits you. We do not have inflexible core working hours.
Your healthy work-life balance is very important to us, so we try to stick to the agreed working hours. Of course, in some phases there is more work to do than usual and in these situations your commitment helps beyond the usual closing time. However, this is the absolute exception and we make sure that overtime is compensated promptly with time off.

  • What is the home office arrangement?

Rigid rules don't suit us, so you can decide (in consultation with your team, of course) when and how often you want to come to the office.
We have perfected hybrid collaboration - there is regular and lively exchange, so even if you work remotely, you are always well connected.
Laptop on your lap and feet in the pool? No problem. Thanks to our "Homeoffice-EU" program, you can work up to 20 days a year abroad in the EU.

  • Is there a dress code?

"Come as you are" We are mixed, everyone may come as you feel comfortable. T-shirt, hoodie or blazer - we don`t care. By the way, this also applies to job interviews.

  • What events are there?

Besides a great gcxmas Christmas party we like to celebrate the good weather in the grandcentrix courtyard in Cologne in summer. In addition, we regularly "just like that" fire up the grill or get together for a joint breakfast. During the so-called "Lightning Talks", two employees talk about interesting topics from their lives (from brewing beer, to adoption, to learning Japanese), while the listeners enjoy delicious pizza. Within the departments, there are also many zoom-out sessions, workshops, and team-building events. Additionally, we like to host MeetUps and other events - aaaand so on... so there's always something going on.

FAQ

All about your application

  • What application documents do I need?

For a first impression, we only need your CV or a link to your LinkedIn or Xing profile. We would be happy to receive additional documents, such as coding examples or a list of your projects.
Very valuable are always some personal words about you, your motivation and why you want to work at grandcentrix.
References are not very relevant for us. Between us - they hardly contain any useful statements... So if you are missing documents or you don't feel like collecting them: Don't worry ;-)

  • How does the application process work?

The application process with us is individual, depending on the position you are interested in. The rough procedure is often as follows:
Receipt of application: Apply easily via our career site or a job board. You will receive a confirmation of receipt directly.
Screening: The team looks at your documents and gives you feedback asap.
Interview: Usually there is a short online meeting, followed by an invitation for an on-site interview in Cologne. For some positions, there is a technical assessment or a business case in which you can demonstrate your skills.
Contract: If we are a good match, you will receive your contract offer within a few days.

  • How can I submit a speculative application?

We are always happy to hear from motivated candidates who want to develop their potential with us. If you can't find a suitable vacancy but would still like to be part of the #bestteam at grandcentrix, send us your unsolicited application to the following email address: application@grandcentrix.net.
Our team will carefully review your application and contact you if there is a suitable vacancy.

  • Can I do an apprenticeship / dual study / (student) internship with you?

Our aim is always to provide you with the best possible support. The departments do not always have the capacity for this. If you don't find anything suitable in our job advertisements, feel free to send a speculative application to the e-mail address application@grandcentrix.net or ask us at jobs@grandcentrix.net. Please write directly in which area you are interested and how long you would like to stay with us.

  • Do I need to know German & English for every job?

Our company language is English. However, we communicate in both languages so that no one feels left out. A good knowledge of English is therefore important in order to be able to communicate with all colleagues and to find your way around the tools. German skills are especially relevant for positions with German customer contact.
Irrespective of this, we offer our employees the opportunity to expand their language skills (both German and English) as part of a language course.

  • What does onboarding at gcx look like?

Approximately 2 weeks before your start you will receive an email with all important information. We invite you to come to our Cologne office for your first day. There you will receive - besides the onboarding by the People & Happiness Team and IT - a welcome package, many friendly faces and your team.

  • Who sees my application and how long is my data stored?

We take the issue of data protection and confidentiality very seriously and follow the applicable German and European data protection regulations. The transmission of your online application is therefore encrypted according to current standards. Your data will be deleted after completion of the application process and any action periods, unless you have given your consent to save your application for further job offers. If your application relates to a specific job advertisement, we will store your application data beyond the conclusion of the application process for this position only insofar as this is necessary to comply with our legal obligation pursuant to Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. c GDPR, but for no longer than 6 months.
If you have any questions, please contact our data protection officer at datenschutzbeauftragter@grandcentrix.net.
